I need to add syncronised lyrics text to a file.

To add lyrics to the file WITHOUT including a melody line requires some form of editing.
One of the most simple applications is within GNMIDI software.
It's simply a matter of cut & paste the lyrics, then "tap" at the locations where lyrics are required.

Make sure GNMIDI works on your computer and its operating system.
